How to Use
Zhou recommends taking two Calm Now capsules once a day, with food and water, or as directed by your health professional. But, of course, you should only use it as directed. There are 60 capsules in a bottle, meaning that there are 30 total servings.
We have compiled a list of some of the ingredients found in Calm Now and included studies that prove how they can help you.
Botanical Blend (400 mg)
The botanical blend includes Hawthorn, lemon balm, Passion Flower, and Hops. Together they make up 400 mg, but we do not know how much each ingredient makes up the blend, making it very difficult to assess. We usually tell people to avoid any supplement that is not entirely transparent about their ingredients.
Lemon balm is a lemon-scented herb that’s grown all over the world. It has a range of health benefits but is traditionally used to improve mood and cognitive function. Unfortunately, there haven’t been many studies on the benefits that lemon balm has on stress and anxiety, but the results from the studies that have been conducted look promising.
Although potentially outdated, a 2004 study found that the herb was capable of reducing stress. A separate study also found that it could help with anxiety.
However, one study that used dosages of 600 mg, 1000 mg, and 1600 mg of lemon balm found that a dosage of 1600 mg had the most notable effects. Therefore, this supplement can’t have a sufficient amount for you to experience the benefits.
Passionflowers are a wide variety of flowers that have been used in Europe and by Native Americans for centuries. They have several health benefits and can help people who suffer from restlessness, agitation, anxiety, and insomnia. In 2008, a study proved that passionflower could reduce anxiety.
However, they used 500 mg, so once again, there can’t possibly be a sufficient amount in this supplement.
Rhodiola Rosea (200 mg)
This herb is found in mountainous areas of Europe and Asia. With more than 140 active ingredients found in its roots, it is thought to have multiple health benefits and has been used to treat anxiety, depression, and fatigue for centuries.
And studies can back this up. In a 2015 study, researchers found that people experienced a significant reduction in anxiety, stress, depression, and overall mood after two weeks. This was reiterated in a more recent study, which found that the herb could alleviate symptoms of stress. A study from 2007 also found that Rhodiola Rosea can treat mild to moderate depression.
However, the optimal dose for improving symptoms of stress is thought to be at least 400 mg, so 200 mg may be insufficient.
Ashwagandha (200 mg)
This ancient medicinal herb has been used for centuries for its health benefits. Amongst boosting brain function and reducing blood sugar, ashwagandha has also been proven to lower stress levels and fight anxiety symptoms. In a 2015 study, it was proven that the herb could help with anxiety disorders, stress, and sleep disturbances. Similar results were found in a double-blind placebo-controlled study that was published in 2012.
Again, the dosage is a problem. Ashwagandha studies tend to use at least 300 mg before noticing any benefits in participants.
B Vitamins (Mix)
All B vitamins are needed as they offer many health benefits, such as supporting your brain health and energy levels. We mainly get B vitamins by consuming a range of different foods, but dietary supplementation can also help ensure you get enough of this essential vitamin. Studies have also found that B vitamins reduce stress and anxiety and improve your mood.
Zinc (25 mg)
As an essential nutrient, our body cannot make or store Zinc, but as it plays an important role in our wellbeing, it’s vital we get a consistent supply through food and supplements. In a 2011 study, it was reported that a zinc deficiency could lead to worsened anxiety and stress. As a considerable part of the population suffer from zinc deficiency, taking supplements with Zinc could help them immensely.
25 mg of Zinc is a good dose.
Price and Value for Money
In comparison to many dietary supplements out there, Calm Now is relatively affordable in its price. For a bottle containing 30 days’ worth of supplements, it costs $15. This means that two capsules per day cost only 50 cents, which is a very reasonable price compared to other products in the market. This price decreases to $12 if you choose to subscribe.
While this price appears cheap, the low cost is at the expense of very low dosages. It does have good reviews, but this may be a placebo or due to the vitamins, which can be purchased at an even lower price.
Despite a promising-looking formula and positive reviews, Zhou Calm uses very low dosages of many of the most important ingredients. Therefore, we think that your money is probably better spent elsewhere.
- Thousands of positive reviews on Amazon and third-party sites.
- Reasonable price.
- The unique combination of high-quality vitamins, herbs, and plants.
- A ‘herbal blend’ without precise dosages. But at 400 mg for four important ingre4idents, it is doubtful that this supplement contains enough of any of them for you to experience the true benefits.
- A lot of the evidence that proves the ingredients work is outdated and limited.
- Very low dosages of ingredients such as Ashwagandha and Rhodiola Rosea.
But there’s only one way to find out, and with a month’s worth costing only $15, it may be very worth it! To purchase Calm Now, click here.
