2020 Workout Trends – What will be hot?

The fitness industry is constantly evolving and that’s not going to change anytime soon. This year, we’ve seen HIIT training and boutique studios shoot up in the fitness rankings and they’ll be staying to the top of the charts for a while. But there are plenty of other 2020 workout trends that you should be keeping your eye on.

In terms of 2020 workout trends, what will be hot? Already we are starting to see certain workouts becoming more popular, especially in terms of technology and fitness. These are two key areas of growth and it only seems natural that they combine forces to create a super team of health. On top of this, the link between mental health and fitness is also something to look out for, as there has been more insight into how exercise can be used as a form of mindfulness.

2020 Workout trends

Group Training

One of the most impressive surges in the fitness industry is group training, in-fact it looks as though it’s going to continue to grow in popularity. It is the social aspect of group training that resonates well with people, especially Millennials and Generation Z that are looking for new ways to socialise, instead of going to the local bars and pubs.

If you live in a city centre, you’ve probably seen an increase in boutique group training studios. These are often not created like a conventional gym, you can’t go in there to train on your own or do a session with a Personal Trainer, instead you can only take part in classes.

Furthermore, along with group classes becoming more fashionable, so is group personal training. Usually a cheaper alternative to 1-1 session, group personal training gives you all of the benefits of a Personal Trainer at a lower cost and allows you to take part in sessions with friends, or people with similar goals to yours. This can be a great solution if you find it hard to stay motivated as you have the help of the others in your group to keep you on track.

Mindful Workouts

According to the Mental Health Foundation, in 2018, 74% of people in the UK had felt so stressed that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope. Stress is one of the biggest problems in the Western World which can lead to more serious and harmful illnesses.

One of the best ways to help manage stress is through mindfulness, and no that doesn’t mean sitting in an empty room in silence. It simply means to be aware and present in the moment. How often do you spend regretting things in the past? Or even thinking about the future and wishing you were where you want to be? It’s a common thing to do, except it probably isn’t helping with your stress levels.

There are several ways to be more mindful, and one of them is through exercise. The conventional mindfulness classes such as Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi are on the rise as people are more aware of just how important both mental and physical health are. But, as well as this, there are more classes now focused specifically on mindfulness.

Yoga HIIT

Hybrid workouts are a concept that is fairly new to the fitness world, and another one of the 2020 workout trends set to rise is Yoga HIIT training. HIIT training is High Intensity Interval Training and popular with popular with people that enjoy shorts blasts of exercise.

Linking back to mindful workouts, Yoga has seen a huge increase in popularity, with more Yoga studios opening and conventional gyms adding various styles of it to their timetable. Yoga is the perfect way to incorporate body movement and mindfulness, so there’s no wonder so many people are trying to squeeze it into their busy timetables.

One way of making it fit into your schedule is with Yoga HIIT classes. There is still the mindful aspect of the class, but usually the movements are done at a quicker pace that can be much more challenging. Yoga HIIT classes often consist of a grounding element, a fast yoga sequence, focusing on a specific theme such as a body part, and then a closing phase which can be meditation. If you want to give Yoga a try, but you aren’t quite sure if you’re ready for it, Yoga HIIT could be the short blast you need to try it out.
