Popular fitness model, video blogger, and viner Sommer Ray has steadily been growing her fan-base on social media. She posts exceptionally well taken photographs and videos of her well-formed physique that teaches her audience the importance of keeping a good diet and workout routine.

A lot of the focus in Sommer Ray’s workouts is on the formation of her glutes. The model makes use of workouts that tone her lower body. It should be said, that what works for Sommer might not necessarily work for everyone else.

For one thing, Sommer has been said to have a well-functioning metabolism. This means, that the amount of exercises (specifically cardio) that she does might not be as much as what someone who has an average or lower metabolism. For people who have a higher than average metabolism (like Sommer), it is important not to over-train, as that will only lead to the destruction of progress (deterioration of lean muscle mass.)

Of course, over-training is just not good in general. However, the moral of the story is, Sommer Ray found what worked for her. She learned how to achieve the best results based on the information she had on hand. The same thing should be done by anyone that is looking to advance in the world of fitness.

Workout Routine

Although Sommer Ray’s family history does include evidence of fitness enthusiasm, she herself does not seem to have much interest in strength training. However, that doesn’t mean that she was not influenced by her late father, who had been a bodybuilder.

She aims to get at least 12-13 repetitions of every set, enough to keep her body toned, but not enough to continuously be building up muscle. Her metabolism dictates that she not do too much cardio, but she does entertain some high-intensity squatting routines to keep her glutes fit.

  • Hack Squats – 4 x 12 reps
  • Leg Press – 4 x 12 reps
  • Standing Cable Glute Extensions – 4 x 12 reps
  • TRX Jump Squats – 4 x 12 reps
  • Jump Rope – 4 x 5 min

As previously mentioned, Sommer Ray had come from a family that was familiar with health and fitness. From the start, she had been raised with a diet that naturally led to her to have a lean frame. Of course, being raised healthy doesn’t necessarily make it any easier for her to stay away from bad foods, but it can be said that this early start is what allows her to maintain such a healthy metabolism.

The diet she started with was not necessarily perfect, however, once she reached her late teens she became introduced to a stricter diet. This diet was was necessitated by her interest in bikini modeling.

This kind of job would require that Sommer maintain a lean physique. That is without too much help from toning exercises that might lead to muscle gains that would be unwanted for bikini modelling. It all depends of course, but because her form had already been lean, the only thing she needed to do was maintain it.

At that point, she got to know the nutritional values of lean proteins- which helped her keep her physique both lean and toned. She also placed a limit on the amount of carbs that she consumed everyday, which made it easier for her to keep her caloric intake low.

As mentioned, this strict diet had been necessitated by the career that she had at the time. However, nowadays, she promotes a diet that is a little more substantial. Sommer knows that dieting and exercising is tough, which is why she makes sure to tell her audience to do it for a good reason. She herself has learned to grow to love fitness overtime, but that is because she does this for herself. No one else.

Because of Sommer’s high metabolism it is not necessary for her to take many supplements. She keeps her lean form with a non-restrictive diet that works for her, exercises regularly to keep the weight off, and stays away from strength training that would require her to supplement with some additional vitamins.
