Misty Copeland Diet
Misty Copeland, with her beautifully lean but well-formed physique is a great source of inspiration for many people all around the world. Not only is she a fitness model, she participates in American Ballet Theater, and was the first African American dancer ever to be casted into a production such as Swan Lake.
The New York Times Magazine has written her down as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the world, and for good reason. She inspires people of her race and women who want to be able to make a change in their life.
Of course, her ballerina cut figure and her ballet skills don’t come from just anywhere. Misty Copeland spent years mastering the craft, improving herself little by little as she goes about changing the world in her own special way.
She recently starred in a documentary about her life as well, a feature called A Ballerina’s Tale, which speaks about her past and what she had to face to get to where she is now.

Misty Copeland Workout
Because of her background in ballet, it’s only understandable that Misty Copeland’s routines differ from what most fitness models would follow. Rather than just building up lean muscles and keep her body toned, she also has to reserve a lot of focus on keeping herself both nimble and flexible.
If you’ve ever been to a ballet recital before, you would know that ballet requires a certain level of gymnastics. One needs to be able to move their body into different positions, but in a way that is both graceful and beautiful. Most ballerinas work on their physique and their level of flexibility as young as 5 years old.
Of course, it’s never too late to start working on your own body, but a lot of the masters of ballet start off at a very young age. They’d have ballet classes that would naturally stretch their muscles- allowing them to execute moves flawlessly as they dance.
Standing calf raises:
- Stand with your feet hip-distance apart, and make sure you’re pressing equal weight between your pinky toe and your big toe, says Hall. (If you have a hard time balancing, place your hand on a wall or counter.)
- Press through the balls of your feet to lift your heels off the ground as high as you can.
- With control, lower your heels back to the ground.
- That’s one rep. Do 10 to 20.
Misty Copeland Diet
A lot of people seem to think that dieting is just a form of limiting the amount of food that you eat, thus resulting in a slimmer form. However, as everyone in the fitness community is probably familiar with- this is not very healthy. It’s not just your favorite foods that you are lacking of, you are also taking away the nutrients your body needs in order to thrive.
People are always at awe when they see the lean forms of ballerinas. They don’t get this way for eating only one type of food. No, what they do is make sure that their body is getting the amount of carbs, fat, and protein it needs to build up lean muscle and burn calories everyday.
In fact, rather than eat less, most fitness models find themselves eating more. This is to accommodate the amount of calories they burn through their exercises. If they eat too little, their body will break down the lean muscle they already have- leading their lean muscle mass to slowly deteriorate.
Misty Copeland’s Daily Meal Plan:
- Muffin or bagel slathered with scallion cream cheese and iced coffee
- Cashews and macadamia nuts, with dried pineapple and a few grapes
- Spinach salad topped with pecans, goat cheese, dried cranberries, light vinaigrette, 2-3 slices of avocado
- Grilled salmon, roasted onions, carrots, butternut squash seasoned with rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper. A glass of prosecco OR a peanut butter cookie.
Misty Copeland Supplements
Women’s bodies work differently from men, and a lot of fitness personalities that are women find themselves supplementing with fat burning supplements or protein shakes.
